Tell Congress to Restore the Voting Rights Act!
The right -- and responsibility -- to vote is foundational to both our faith and our democracy. It has been three years since the Supreme Court weakened the Voting Rights Act in Shelby County v. Holder. Every year since 2013 states have passed restrictive laws, such as establishing an arduous process to register to vote or cast a ballot, under the guise of protecting against voter fraud. As a result, millions of voters, particularly people of color and senior citizens, will be disenfranchised in states that have a history of discriminatory voting laws.
The solution is clear: Congress must restore the Voting Rights Act by supporting H.R. 2867, the Voting Rights Advancement Act (VRAA). Unfortunately, many members of Congress are reluctant to address this issue because they benefit from restrictive laws. Encourage your Representative to support the discharge petitition to bring the VRAA to a vote!
After you enter your zip code, our system will determine if your Representative has already signed the petition. If they have, you will be able to send them a thank you message instead.
